92 year old brother Bob Crawford from the Cavehill Ward, Belfast Stake has been awarded France's highest decoration, the Legion D'Honneur. His medal came with an accompanying letter stating that he had been appointed to the rank of Chevalier in the Ordre National de la Legion D'Honneur in acknowledgement of his military engagement and steadfast involvement in the liberation of France in WW2.
In 2010 Brother Crawford travelled back to Normandy where he had served during the war. His visit to the Ranville war cemetery there was a very moving experience for him as he remembered those who had not returned home.
Brother Crawford proudly wore his medals at the Sunday session of the Belfast Stake conference held on Sunday 8th November.
