The Unit History Tool is a new tool designed to help leaders of Latter-day Saint congregations capture and preserve the history of their local units. Whether documenting significant events or sharing personal stories, this tool makes it easy and enjoyable. It is important to remember that the Unit History tool is not intended to store meeting minutes, quarterly reports, or similar records. The purpose of the Unit History tool is to build and strengthen faith in Jesus Christ for current members and for the rising generation. Gone are the days of rushing to compile a history at the end of a year, now leaders can document events as they happen. This tool officially replaces the annual history process.
Key features
- All-Inclusive: You can record everything from leadership changes and activities to faith promoting experiences and conversion stories. It’s like creating a living scrapbook of your unit’s journey. Stories are viewable for all members of the unit.
- Easy to Use: The interface is designed to be straightforward and user-friendly. You can drag and drop files (PDFs, images, etc.) into the tool.
- Team Effort: Multiple people can contribute to their unit’s history, making it a collaborative project where everyone can add their unique experiences and insights.
- Quick Search: Need to find a specific event, a person, or entry? The search feature makes it easy to locate exactly what you’re looking for.
- Preserve Memories: By digitising and sharing your unit’s history through the tool, you’re ensuring that these precious memories are safe and accessible for future members of your congregation.
How to Get Started
To create or view stories visit unithistory.churchofjesuschrist.org and log in with your church account. Leaders can check out the Quick Start Guide and begin writing stories. It provides simple, step-by-step instructions on how to access the tool, create entries, and manage your unit’s historical records. Stories that have taken place within the last ten years can be submitted to the tool. Members, meanwhile, can view the stories that have been submitted and approved.
Why You’ll Love It
The Unit History Tool is more than just a record-keeping system; it’s a way to celebrate and share the collective journey of your unit. Whether you’re a leader documenting key events or a member viewing stories from your unit, this tool helps keep the spirit and legacy of your unit alive and thriving.
